I created a new digital art form where I paint with sound waves. I consider these poems, paintings, a way to touch breath.
My mother took me to galleries in my twenties. She said nothing and let me tell her the paintings I liked, and the ones I did not enjoy. Outside on the sidewalk, she told me, “Those are balanced.” We are both highly visual in our inner taking of the world and understanding of life around us. I knew immediately what she meant: the colors, the image, the way the message was there for me all balanced. I balance my art; this is true. I think the imbalance can make its own balance, and that is how I live and create.
ERS (pronounced Uhrz) is a 21st Century artist who holds a Ph.D. from the University of Denver. Around 2008, ERS created a way to write with sound waves using various sounds (her grandfather's voice, music, birds, etc). Finally, technology has allowed these unique pieces to be produced and shared worldwide. ERS lives in Denver, Colorado, with five puppets surrounded by her mother's paintings.
